Lodge Based Ski Weeks

British Columbia is blessed with dozens of very comfortable, fully serviced and exclusive backcountry ski touring lodges, offering reliable deep snow conditions, nestled in prime remote alpine terrain. These lodges provide an outstanding base for week-long high quality ski touring and ski mountaineering experiences. Most of them offer a range of fantastic tree skiing and high alpine terrain suitable for various groups needs. 

Every winter Summit Mountain Guides offers a few scheduled Backcountry lodge ski weeks. For 2019, David will be guiding a fully catered ski touring week at Mallard Lodge near Valemount BC from February 17-24 & LQ Outpost March 10-17.

Japan Powder, Jan 15-20, 2019

Japan is known for its deep low density powder and perfectly spaced birch forests. The amazing hot-spring network & incredible food also contribute to the uniqueness of this cultural ski experience. Join us and explore this mythical ski paradise as we return to Hokkaido in Jan 2019.

Hokkaido is the Northern island of Japan, David will be running two separate trips (Niseko & Furano) this coming Jan 2019. The focus will be on sampling backcountry terrain near the various local ski resorts and road access venues. Our daily excursions will include a mixture of classic open birch forest skiing along with open alpine terrain with possible ski peaks.

Nestled in the Valhalla range of the Southern Selkirk’s this cozy lodge offers outstanding powder skiing in alpine bowls along with classic BC tree skiing.

This back country program is family friendly and fully catered.  The terrain is exciting and diverse for intermediate to advanced ski tourers.

Mallard Lodge, Feb 17-24, 2019

David will be guiding a unique ski touring week at the remote Mallard Lodge February 17-24, 2019. This beautiful lodge is located in the Canadian Rockies about 75km Southeast of Valemount BC adjacent to Jasper National Park.

Built in 2013, this heli access lodge is a cozy, modern & comfortable. The terrain surrounding the lodge is exclusive & very alpine; it includes many potential ski peaks, glacier skiing, open bowls as well as good tree skiing. LQ Outpost, March 10-17, 2019

The latest in the Valkyr lodge collection is generating strong interest for good reasons. Join David March 10-17, 2019 and explore uncharted terrain with a small group out of a new rustic lodge.

Campbell Icefields, Feb 2020

For those already planning their winter 2020, we have secured a ski touring week at the Campbell Icefields Chalet from February 8-15, 2020. This lodge is located in the Western Rockies just North of Golden in Southeastern BC. Completed in 2004, this remote fly-in lodge is modern & comfortable.

Bernie Glacier Chalet, Mar 2020

Discover a remote ski touring paradise from the comfort of a modern mountain lodge. Located at 1100m in the Howson Range near Smithers, the Bernie Glacier Chalet an ideal base for exploring this rugged part of BC’s Coast Mountains.
