Lodge Based Ski Weeks
British Columbia is blessed with dozens of very comfortable, fully serviced and exclusive backcountry ski touring lodges, offering reliable deep snow conditions, nestled in prime remote alpine terrain. These lodges provide an outstanding base for week-long high quality ski touring and ski mountaineering experiences. Most of them offer a range of fantastic tree skiing and high alpine terrain suitable for various groups needs.
Every winter Summit Mountain Guides offers a few scheduled Backcountry lodge ski weeks. For 2017, David will be guiding a fully catered ski touring week at Mallard Lodge near Valemount BC from February 12-19.
We would also be happy to put our expertise at work and design a custom ski week for you and your group to a lodge of your choice. Below is a list of lodges we recommend:

Japan is known for its deep low density powder and perfectly spaced birch forests. David will be leading a trip out of Niseko Jan 17-22 this winter. This ski resort town located on the North Island provides a good cultural base for exploring the nearby backcountry.
The focus will be on sampling the backcountry terrain from the various local ski resorts and some road access venues in the area. Our daily excursions will include a mixture of classic open birch forest skiing along with open alpine terrain with possible ski peak options.
David will be guiding a unique ski touring week at the remote Mallard Lodge February 12-19, 2017. This beautiful lodge is located in the Canadian Rockies about 75km Southeast of Valemount BC adjacent to Jasper National Park.
Built in 2013, this heli access lodge is a cozy, modern & comfortable. The terrain surrounding the lodge is exclusive & very alpine; it includes many potential ski peaks, glacier skiing, open bowls as well as good tree skiing. The much anticipated LQ Outpost will be open for the 2017 ski season! The latest in the Valkyr lodge collection is in the final stages of construction. Join David March 19-26, 2017 and explore new ski terrain with a small group out of a brand new rustic lodge.
The Lodge is located at treeline and boasts a variety of great ski-touring options including long steep tree runs, open alpine terrain along with various ski peak options.
Enjoy a week of ski touring at Sorcerer Lodge March 25 to April 1, 2018 and discover a backcountry skiing paradise in the Selkirk Mountain Range. Perched right at treeline (6660 ft/ 2030m), this fly-in lodge is a comfortable 3 level accommodation. It is located near the northern boundary of Glacier National Park in Southeastern British Columbia.
The ski terrain boasts a mixture of high alpine slopes, glaciers, ski peaks, steep chutes along with some fantastic tree skiing.
