Throughout the summer months, Summit Mountain Guides offers rock climbing courses in the Nelson & Castlegar area, Squamish, the Canadian Rockies, Skaha and a variety of other BC interior rock climbing destination. Whether you are interested in trying this exciting activity or have a specific learning goal we offer beginner to advanced rock climbing courses for individuals, families and groups.
Topics covered include basic climbing knots, movement skills, equipment use, top rope climbing techniques and general crag safety.
On the two day program, you will learn personalized movement skills, basic anchor construction and rappelling while climbing as much rock as possible.
Skills covered include; general crag safety, anchor construction, rappelling, basic rope handling, movement skills, lead belaying & intro to multi-pitch climbing. Join this course and safely learn from a professional how to get started and established at your local crag.
This course is available throughout Western Canada, contact us with a desired location. The West Kootenay courses will take place at one of the many local outdoor rock climbing sites in the Nelson & Castlegar area (Slocan Bluffs, Kinnard Bluffs, Koch creek Bluffs, Waterline, etc.). The area is blessed with a fine variety of outdoor rock climbing sites in pristine wilderness.
The “Rock Skills Series” is the centerpiece of our advanced rock climbing programs. It is a 1 to 3 day comprehensive series designed for intermediate to advance climbers interested in broadening their skills.
Some of the skills covered through the Rock Skills Series include: Lead Climbing & Advanced Movement Skills, Traditional Equipment & Improvised Anchors and Multi-Pitch Climbing Systems.
Whether you are interested in a particular skill or want to tackle the 3 day series, you will learn modern climbing methods from qualified instructors in a safe environment.
Topics include rope ascending, escaping the belay, load transfers, raising and lowering systems along with troubleshooting various scenarios. It is best suited for Intermediate to advance climbers.
