Slabadabadoo! AD, 5.7, 350m, Drinnan Slabs

Slabadabadoo is a very fun slab climb on good rock in a beautiful alpine setting. It is located in the center of the Drinnan Slab at the headwaters of Hoder Creek in the Southwest corner of Valhalla Provincial Park. The Southwest facing slab can easily be accessed via the Drinnan Pass trail. The route is a mixed bolt/trad protected climb composed of 8 x 50m pitches with bolted anchors.

Whitewater Rocks

Whitewater Ski Resort is well known for its advanced ski terrain and fantastic backcountry skiing. Despite being easily accessible from Nelson, summer opportunities are little known; they include off-trail hiking, ridge walks, peak scrambles and, now, alpine rock climbing. Since 2010, David has spent numerous days developing a collection of climbs with various partners in the shadow of Ymir Peak. These efforts resulted in the creation of several 2-4 pitch climbs scattered over various rock walls between Half Dome and Ymir Peak.

The Valhalla Guidebook Project

Cameron Shute and I are pleased to announce that we are embarking on a Valhalla guidebook project. After much consideration we have decided to take on the task of writing and publishing a modern guidebook dedicated exclusively to the Valhalla mountain range. We are planning to work extensively on this project over the next two years and hope it will be completed and available for the public by the spring of 2015.

The South Ridge of Gimli Peak; Ascent into History

This is the story about the south ridge of Gimli as it will appear in the upcoming "Alpine Canada Book Project", a promising coffee table book highlighting some the best alpine climbing areas in Canada. It is the story of my first experience climbing this iconic peak which began my fascination and love of climbing alpine rock in the Valhalla’s. It is a fun story supplemented by some local climbing history, enjoy!
